Stories from EBPP students on extra curricular Empower programme: “Excuse Me Ma’am, Do You Know About Malnourish?

IMG_0022resizeEmpower lesson today was very pleasant, because they asked us to do an interview. We have to ask three adults around us about malnutrition. The purposed of this interview is to find out how many people know what malnutrition is. During the interviewed we have to take a picture by camera which was given by our teachers.

On Sunday, my friend and I was agreed to go around the village to do the interview. We did it in a group work to make it easier. We shared our job each other, one as an interviewer and the other one as a photographer to take our pictures. Me : “Excuse me Ma’am, we are the students from Manikaji School of EBPP, we are here today for asking you something”

Ma’am : “Yes, please”

Me : “What’s your name? And how old are you?

Ma’am : “My name is Ni Ketut Arman and I am 49 ans. This is my daughter Luh, elle est 8 years old”

Me : “Okay, now I’m going to ask you about malnutrition. Do you know what does it mean?

Ma’am : “No, I don’t. Can you explain it for me?

Me : “Of course Ma’am. Malnutrition is a condition caused by nutrition deficiency like carbohydrate, protein, fat, vitamin and mineral. Children with malnourished usually looks wasting or stunting. Do you understand Ma’am?

Ma’am : “Yeah, a little bit”

Me : “Do you think you can handle it?

Ma’am : “Oh, I think it will give a bad effect for the children, but I don’t know how to solve it. Can you help me to understand what do I have to do to help them?

Me : “If you want your child keep healthy, you have to feed them with healthy food. And if you are pregnant, you have to eat healthy food too for the health of your baby”

Ma’am : “Oh…alright then”

Me : “What’s your hope for the future?

Ma’am : “I hope the children in Bali would not get malnourished. Especially in our village, Département. I wish no more stunting or wasting children so this village will develop in the future”

Me : “Okay, Ma’am I will write it then. Thank you for your time and your kindness”

Ma’am : “Okay, you’re welcome”

After interviewing Mrs. Arman we went to next location to do the same thing. That’s all my experience to be an interviewer.
