1. Support 94 Manikaji children’s continued education:

With graduation in June 2025 and new enrollment starting in July, we estimate a total of 94 students, aged 6–18, will attend EBPP’s remote Manikaji School on Mount Abang. These students rely entirely on EBPP for their education, as government schools are too far away and no public transportation is available in this isolated East Bali mountain village. Most parents are illiterate and depend on their children's education as a path to a better future and a way out of poverty. The cost of education is US$404 per student per year, bringing the estimated total for July 2025 - June 2026 to US$37,976.

Support one student for one month: Rp553.000 (US$35)
Support one student for a full year: Rp6,385,000 (US$404)

2. Scaling Up the Findings of our 2019-2024 Malnutrition Study to 3,800 families:

Scaling Up the proven "Family Model" to Reduce Malnutrition in all Ban Village’s 19 Customary Villages via Posyandu (monthly mother and infant health post), targeting families with pregnant women, infants 0-5 yrs & adolescent girls, in collaboration with Udayana University Medical Faculty, following the success of our 5-year malnutrition study in 2024 with Udayana University Medical Faculty. Estimated costs 2025 -2028: US$60,000

3. Upgrade dirt road infrastructure for 520 families & 2 schools:

“Improve unsafe dirt roads for safer access for our students to go to EBPP Manikaji and Darmaji schools and for the communities’ safe access to local and regional health facilities and enable improved farming outputs and economic development by transporting harvested surplus crops to local and regional markets:
•  3,600 metres dirt road from Manikaji School to Darmaji School:
US$ 30,000

4. Food security and sustainable economic development for 520 families:

“The 800 hectares steep and sandy volcanic ash farmland supporting the 2 most isolated and disadvantaged sub-villages of Manikaji and Darmaji, high up the central Mount Abang slopes has no rivers or mountain springs and only crops of cassava and corn can be planted during the 4-5 months rainy season.

In 2023 to address this, EBPP, working with their highly motivated junior & senior high school students & farmers groups, initiated training and resources in Dryland Regenerative Agriculture and Agroforestry for Water Retention and Climate Resilience to grow nutritious foods, cash crops and multi-beneficial trees for food security and sell the surplus to local and regional markets using the upgraded road infrastructure.

Estimated cost for 2025 – 2026: US$20,000.

5. Toilet & bathroom blocks to improve the sanitation and environmental health, prioritising children:

Many families still practice open defecation, leading to unhealthy environments and the spread of disease. Building toilet and bathroom blocks is essential to improve sanitation, hygiene and health, especially for children, by providing safe, clean spaces that promote well-being and lead to healthier communities.

Costs for one toilet & bathroom block: Rp5,392,800 (US$341)

6. Roof rainwater storage reservoirs (locally called cubang):

complete with corrugated zinc covers, environmental filters to provide a clean and safe household water supply to isolated communities to sustainably improve health, prioritizing babies, children and mothers.

Costs for one roof rainwater storage reservoirs: Rp6,474,900 (US$410)
