David J Booth MBE

Founder & Chief Executive Officer
David, a civil engineer from NW England with over 20 years experience in seven countries, moved to Jakarta in 1989.

He relocated to Bali in 1993 where he decided to give back to the people of Indonesia, his adopted country, and established the East Bali Poverty Project in 1998 after identifying the 19 impoverished and isolated communities in mountainous East Bali as a region he could apply his extensive experience.

He still coordinates all project planning and design. David was awarded the MBE for “Services to sustainable development in rural East Bali, Indonesia” in Queen Elizabeth II’s 2004 Birthday Honours List.

Komang Kurniawan, S.H.

Chairman, Team Leader of all EBPP Field Programs
A native of Tianyar in East Bali and a graduate in Law from Universitas Teknologi Indonesia, Komang is a skilled leader and communicator who partnered with David in 1996.

He was instrumental in initiating culturally sensitive communication with the communities of the 19 remote Ban village hamlets, leading to a partnership of mutual trust.

As Team Leader since 1998, Komang has coordinated all field activities of over 30 projects and managing 120+ field staff in 2008. He currently leads a team of over 40 field staff and various volunteers.

Tri Budiyono

Vice Chairman & Sectretariat Administration
Originating from Solo in Java, Tri joined David as a volunteer in August 1998 after graduating from Bali’s Udayana University and coordinated the interviews of 1,056 families in Desa Ban. His work formed the basis for EBPP’s community development blueprint.

Since 1999, he has been the mainstay of all office administration, development and training of all EBPP admin staff.

As Vice Chairman and Secretariat Administrator, Tri leads our Denpasar office team and inspires confidence in all donors and the Yayasan Board of Directors.
