On Friday, December 29, 2023, we received a visit from the Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection of the Republic of Indonesia who donated school supplies of stationery and a school bag for each student while engaging in dialogue with us.
During the visit, I performed a song titled "Tuntaskan Pendidikan/Complete Education," which I had created with my friends. My motivation behind choosing this song was my concern for friends who were marrying under the age of 19. It saddened me to witness peers of my age already married with limited job opportunities except cutting cow fodder and weaving bamboo baskets. Interacting with the Ministry staff gave us the opportunity to share experiences and the condition of my village. Their positive response to my song made me happy, and they encouraged me to set a good example for friends who might consider marrying under age.
My hope is that the Ministry of Child Protection will continue providing assistance and guidance regarding women, education, and child protection and I look forward to future collaborations between the Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection and EBPP Schools, especially to support our campaign to eradicate child marriage and school dropout in my village.
