Studying at EBPP has given me many meaningful experiences. I’m not only learning academic subjects but also gaining life skills that help me become more confident and independent. One of the most valuable experiences has been learning sustainable organic farming. The correct term though is dryland regenerative agriculture, because we have learnt how to transform our steep and sandy farmland into fertile terraced gardens.
Before joining the program, my farming skills were very limited. I couldn’t manage the land properly, which led to poor harvests, and I had to buy vegetables and flowers from the market. But after learning about organic farming especially how to work with dry land I began to understand the importance of using quality seeds, liquid and solid organic fertilisers, proper soil management, and pest control. With this new knowledge, I can now grow healthier vegetables and flowers and protect them from pests. I’ve even started selling tomatoes and flowers from my own garden!
Thank you, EBPP for teaching me valuable skills that prepare me for a better future!
