Exciting progress is taking place in our Manikaji Dryland Regenerative Agriculture Program as we prepare to build chicken coops for three farmers’ groups in Manikaji Kaliaga, Manikaji Puncak, and Manikaji Asti.

Over the past month, our team has worked closely with the farmers’ groups to discuss the construction plans and survey each site to ensure that the locations are suitable. We have also transported key construction materials—including concrete blocks, cement, and steel reinforcement—up the steep and sandy slopes of Mount Abang, marking an important milestone in bringing this project to life.

The chickens will play a vital role in strengthening both food security and sustainable farming practices within the community, providing eggs and meat, offering families a healthy source of animal protein. At the same time, chicken manure will be collected and processed into compost, enriching the soil while reducing the need to purchase external fertilisers. By integrating livestock with regenerative agriculture, we are creating a farming system where each element supports the next, making it more productive, resilient, and environmentally sustainable.

Construction will begin soon, and we look forward to sharing the next stages of this journey with you.
