From 2-4 January, EBPP’s OSIS (Student Council) participated in a ‘leadership camp’ designed by our Youth Empowerment team to develop basic leadership skills through: teamwork, discipline, and appreciation for local culture. The camp began with basic scouting training, where students learned leadership and teamwork through various games and physical exercises. Following that, they had a Nature Trek Challenge, which tested their physical endurance and creative problem-solving skills while working in teams.
Students were also taught how to weave lontar palm leaves with local residents, gaining valuable lessons in patience, precision, and respect for traditional Balinese craftsmanship. A visit to the Lontar Museum provided deeper insights into the history and significance of lontar in Balinese culture, and students had the opportunity to try writing on lontar leaves. The activities concluded with a Basic Leadership Workshop led by the Chairman of the Customary Village Council (MDA) of Karangasem, which enriched the students' understanding of traditional values, mutual cooperation, and the social-environmental balance within Balinese customary villages.
Through these experiences, the students were expected to grow into wise, capable leaders who appreciate and preserve local culture while adapting to the advancements of modern times.
