Last week, EBPP distributed iron supplement for 63 female students across our Manikaji, Darmaji, and Daya learning centres. There was a total of 315 iron tablets, with each student receiving five tablets to be consumed over five weeks.

To commemorate Hari Gizi Nasional (National Nutrition Day) on 25 January 2026, we took the iron supplement together with the students as a symbolic and practical act of staying healthy by fulfilling daily iron needs. This collective moment also reinforced the importance of consistency, as some students still had a few tablets left from the previous distribution period.

During our discussion, several students shared that they had skipped some tablets because they were taking cold medication and were worried about possible negative reactions if both were consumed together. This opened a valuable learning moment. We encouraged students to stay consistent with their iron intake and advised that if they felt unsure, they could take the medicine and the iron tablet separately, with a gap of two to three hours between them.

Beyond distributing tablets, this activity reminded us that nutrition education is just as important as nutrition support itself.
