Mathematics is often considered a difficult subject by many students. In fact, one of my students once shared that, despite wanting to understand the subject, his dislike of mathematics made it difficult to understand the material.
To address this challenge, I applied the Project-Based Learning method, an approach that actively engages students through real-world projects that are relevant to their daily lives.
As a first step, I divide students into small groups of 2-3 people. Then I introduce them to materials such as presenting data in the form of charts, analyzing profit and loss in sales, or calculating discounts on goods. After explaining the basic concepts, I gave them a project theme that challenged them to apply what they had learned.
This method not only helps students understand mathematical concepts in depth but also provides hands-on experience in applying mathematics to real-life situations. Additionally, working in groups enhances their collaboration and discussion skills, fostering mutual support to achieve the best results.
Through this method, mathematics that used to be seen as difficult, can be transformed into something fun, relevant, and meaningful.
