Participating in National Children’s Day Joint Campaign at RRI

Updated: Aug 22, 2023

By I Wayan Doyok, EBPP Darmaji Grade 12 Graduate

Participating in the RRI (Radio Republic Indonesia) Joint Campaign was an invaluable experience. As an EBPP Alumni, I had the privilege to voice issues affecting our village, such as school dropouts, gender inequality, and child marriage. It was a significant opportunity to represent the younger generation and address the problem of child marriage, particularly in Ban Village.

The joint campaign took place on July 23, 2023, as part of the commemoration of National Children’s Day. Its primary goal was to advocate for children’s rights and raise awareness about the dangers of child marriage.

Being selected as a representative to speak about child marriage filled me with pride. Alongside friends from the Denpasar City Regional Children’s Forum, I had the honour of reading the joint action statement, concluding the impactful broadcast programs on Radio Republic Indonesia.

Participating in this campaign marked my first radio broadcast, leaving an unforgettable impression. My hope is that our collaborative efforts will yield positive impacts, shedding light on critical village issues and amplifying the voices of the youth. Young people can play a pivotal role in driving progress and addressing existing problems within the community.

Together, we must recognize and support the youth as the foundation for village development. By fostering an environment where their voices are heard and valued, we can pave the way for a brighter future for all.
