As part of EBPP long-term strategy to support and develop students’ interests and talents in the arts, we recently initiated the ‘EBPP School Music Group’ designed as a supporting activity to develop students’ creativity, discipline, and self-confidence through music.
This group brings together selected junior and senior high school students from our Bunga, Cegi, Pengalusan, Manikaji, and Darmaji schools’ individual music groups, who show interest in developing skills in playing musical instruments, after learning/playing music for a few years.
Their involvement not only enhances the overall quality of the group, but also encourages other students in the respective schools to be more confident in learning music, practicing together, and supporting one another in a collaborative learning environment.
Music plays an important role in students’ personal and social development. Through regular rehearsals and group performances, students learn teamwork, respect for others’ roles, and how to manage emotions while building self-confidence.
Music also offers a positive and healthy way for students to express themselves creatively – and bring pleasure and pride to their respective families and communities!
Going forward, the school music group is expected to participate in various EBPP School events and performances, and hopefully we will be able to secure opportunities for them to perform outside the school as recognition of their talent and dedication – and, who knows? Some may decide to take up music as a profession.
