Regenerative Agriculture Learning Exchange with Astungkara Way

On 10 June 2026, the EBPP team visited the Astungkara Way regenerative agriculture project in Abian Semal, Bali, for a learning exchange on sustainable agriculture, community empowerment, and collaborative partnerships.

During the visit, our team gained valuable insights into how Astungkara Way combines regenerative farming practices with collaboration between farmers, communities, businesses, and other stakeholders. Their experience showed that creating sustainable change requires building trust, strengthening local capacity, and developing partnerships that create shared benefits.

EBPP staff also explored their regenerative agriculture through hands-on activities, including making seed balls, liquid fertiliser, and vermicompost. Our team also shared EBPP’s experiences on their dryland regenerative farming practices in Ban Village, creating a valuable exchange of knowledge and ideas. These activities strengthened our understanding of the connection between healthy soil, traditional knowledge, and sustainable food systems.

The visit also provided inspiration on how organisations can create long-term impact by connecting different sectors. Through partnerships with hotels and restaurants, Astungkara Way has developed a model that supports farmers while promoting sustainable local products.

For EBPP, this learning visit was an opportunity to reflect on our own programmes and explore new approaches to strengthening community empowerment, agriculture, and sustainability initiatives in East Bali.
