WHEN RAIN SUSTAINS LIFE: WATER FOR MANIKAJI PUNCAK

After the generous CSR sponsorship of 10 roof-rainwater harvesting reservoirs (cubang) in Darmaji and 9 in Manikaji Asti, PT Mitra Prodin once again extended its generosity by funding 9 more cubang in Manikaji Puncak — a remote hamlet nestled on the arid slopes of Mount Abang, where there is no nearby water source and homes are scattered far apart.

Construction took longer than expected due to several challenges: the residents were also working together (gotong royong) to build a 1.6km concrete access road supported by EBPP; some tanks were damaged by sudden heavy rains; and at the same time, they were building a new temple for their place of worship. Yet, despite all obstacles, their spirit never wavered.

Some families built larger cubangs than the standard size - buying the additional materials themselves - knowing that rainwater is their only lifeline during the dry season. With these 9 tanks, 32 people — including 14 children — now have improved access to clean water. Even more heartening, families with enough stored water can now share with neighbours in need.

We extend our deepest gratitude to PT Mitra Prodin’s CSR program. This support provides more than just water — it brings health, dignity, and a better future for families who have long depended solely on the rain.
