Every February is celebrated as Balinese Language Month in Bali. To honor and support this important cultural celebration, EBPP students held a special cultural event on March 10 at the EBPP Ban office.
The celebration was opened by Pengalusan School students with a beautiful Puspanjali dance to welcome the audience. The stage then became livelier with a musical performance using the traditional ‘cungklik’ bamboo instruments, (made by them), in a creative collaboration with modern music, when students performed Balinese songs such as Ratu Anom, Cening Putri Ayu, Sampun Panamaya, and Sayonara.
The event also featured several competitions that highlighted Balinese language and literature, including Mesatwa Bali (Balinese storytelling), Dharma Gita (traditional chanting), and Nyurat Aksara Bali (Balinese script writing). Students participated with great enthusiasm and confidence.
Manikaji School students excelled in these competitions, winning first and second place in Nyurat Aksara Bali, while third place went to Darmaji. In the Dharma Gita competition, Darmaji students scored first and third places, while second place went to Manikaji students. Meanwhile, in the Mesatwa Bali competition, Manikaji School students cleaned the sheet, taking first, second, and third places!
Through this celebration, EBPP hopes students will continue to appreciate, learn, and preserve their Balinese language and culture for the future.
