Saturday, 1st November 2025 was an exciting day for EBPP students as they kicked off the 7th Gender Equality Sports Competition. Designed to continue our mission to promote gender equality, especially encouraging girls’ inclusion in typically male dominated  sports, the event fielded 7 futsal and 6 volleyball teams from EBPP junior and senior high schools, who gathered at our Daya Learning Centre sports court to compete and showcase their athletic talents.

Led by EBPP teachers Ketut Madya and Nengah Edi as referees, the competition upheld its core rule: each futsal team must include at least 2 girls, and each volleyball team at least 3. This year, the entire event was prepared and conducted by OSIS (Student Council), highlighting the vital role youth play in organizing and leading programs that involve them directly.

By this week, the first round of elimination matches has concluded, showing clear progress in the students’ skills, especially among the girls:  “The girls’ skills have improved considerably! Their passing is much better compared to the first competition,” enthused the referee, EBPP Sports Teacher, Ketut Madya.

The mindset around gender equality in sports has truly levelled up. Girls’ participation is now seen as normal and more girls are joining confidently without feeling embarrassed because of their gender.

“We’ve been training harder, not only at school but also at the village court to improve our teamwork and skills. We want to be better than last year,” said Mirna and Suti proudly.
