Beyond the Classroom: Empowering Students to Create Change

Recognising a social issue is one thing; understanding why it happens is another. In EBPP’s Youth Empowerment classes, students are learning to take this next step by observing their surroundings, questioning common practices, and analysing social issues through a more critical lens.
Having explored child marriage, sexual harassment and violence, patriarchy, and gender equality in their Youth Empowerment lessons, students are now applying their knowledge through simple observation activities. They are encouraged to identify situations in their communities, consider why they occur, and reflect on how they may affect people's rights, safety, and opportunities.
Rather than simply identifying problems, students are learning to look deeper, challenge assumptions, and consider different perspectives. This process helps develop their critical thinking, analytical skills, and confidence in expressing their ideas.
As part of their learning, students may share their findings with peers and community members, encouraging discussion and raising awareness of issues that affect young people's lives.
Through the Youth Empowerment Program, EBPP aims to make learning meaningful beyond the classroom. Students are not only developing a better understanding of social challenges but also learning how they can contribute to positive change. By connecting knowledge with real-life observations, young people are taking steps towards becoming thoughtful, informed, and active participants in building safer, more equal, and more respectful communities.
Let’s encourage young people to think critically, speak with confidence, and help build safer, more equal communities! 💛💬
