My name is Sutami, a Grade 12 student at Manikaji School. Recently, I had a very meaningful experience when students from Green School visited EBPP Manikaji for a three-day collaboration program from March 3–5. It was a special opportunity for us to learn together, share ideas, and build friendships with students from an international school.
On the first day, we learned about hydroponic farming, rainwater harvesting systems, and waste management. We divided into two groups. One group explored how hydroponic systems allow plants to grow without soil, while the other learned how to collect rainwater from our school roof and create a simple filtration system. In the afternoon, we worked together to clean the school grounds, collecting and sorting trash into plastic, metal, organic waste, paper, glass, and other materials. This activity reminded us how important it is to care for our environment.
On the second day, we focused on improving our school environment. Some students painted the school walls, while others created crafts from recycled materials. We made decorations from bottle caps, flowers from used plastic bottles, and even made seats from plastic bottles! Together, we helped make our school brighter and more beautiful.
On the final day, we cleaned the school and organized the tools we had used. We also placed posters with positive messages in each classroom. In the afternoon, we relaxed together by playing games, drawing, and making bracelets.
This experience was very special to me. I learned new skills, made new friends, and discovered how meaningful it is to work together with people from different backgrounds. I hope we can collaborate again with our friends from Green School in the future.
